THERAPY, EDUCATION, MENTORING

Kerry Adams, M.Sc. SLP

Kerry received her B.Sc in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Alberta in 1992, and then pursued her M.Sc. SLP, also at the University of Alberta. She is licensed and registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists (ACSLPA), the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC), and the College of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists of Saskatchewan (CSASK) . She is also a member of Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) and Alberta Speech-Language Association of Private Practitioners (ASAPP).

Kerry has over 30 years of experience working with outpatient neurological populations and has worked extensively with individuals living with ALS since 2006. She is deeply committed to preserving dignity and connection through communication and specializes in supporting people with ALS through speech changes and technology transitions using compassion, practical, and evidence-based approaches.

Kerry founded Empower Speech Solutions to expand access to expert ALS communication/swallow support beyond geographic barriers. In addition to her ALS-focused work, Kerry maintains a private practice serving a broader neurological population.

Kerry genuinely enjoys presenting workshops and speaking at conferences and finds great meaning in mentoring speech-language pathology students. She brings warmth, relatability, and clarity to her teaching, and is especially skilled at making complex topics feel understandable and manageable. At the heart of her work is a deep respect for people and a belief that feeling heard, supported, and confident makes learning - and communication - possible!
